So my Table was selected to be put in Ferrious, Manchester, a furniture shop just off Oxford Road. Delighted that its in the front of the shop and that you see it as soon as you walk in.

Final Piece for my last project. Happy with how it came out and think the materials mix really well together.

New Table Top

After starting my new project 4 weeks ago, Iv'e started to finally come up with some things I like. This is a quick mock up table top made from MDF and milled by the CnC. First time iv'e ever milled anything so i'm pretty happy with the outcome. Now its time to goto ceramics and play wish dishes.

After gluing it all together I had to do the outside veneer which had to be done in one with a 2 mm each side gap. It was a very stressful week to reach the deadline but I really enjoyed it and i'm really happy with my final piece. Looking forward to getting the ball rolling in practice 4 now
This was when I had all my pieces down to size except the bent laminate which still needed to be hand routed down. As you can see the laminate have the walnut veneer that I had invested in and was such a pain to apply.

This is the my final piece in the making. The legs were made and ready to be used and the wood laminate was in the bag press which took ages to make and size right.
After four weeks of playing around I finally got round to making a to scale model of what would be my final piece. I researched the wood I needed, the veneer I wanted, the scales I wanted alongside a lot of other things

I started looking at small models and also laminating aero-ply as I hadn't attempted it before. I put a walnut veneer around the outside of this laminate which I think compliments the end grain of the plywood.

I had started a new project at uni and as it was an open brief I wasn't too sure on where to start but i did know I wanted to use wood laminating with a nice veneer on top and steel rod. I started to look at small side tables and was also looking at lighting. Just a few of my drawings I did

This was my final design for my first project in second year. It was only a 4 week project but it allowed me to develop my skills on Solidworks and learn the process of the CnC machine. I also found that I could get two stools out of the wood we were allowed to use making it a very profitable production piece. Im very happy with the outcome
I developed a footer for the stool which used 7 components which was the maximum amount I had set myself too. After many other attempts I went back to this one and it was strong and well...worked.

A quick to scale model without a 'Waist' to see how much tolerance the plywood had. I found without a waist it really wanted to pop off its screws. The waist transforms the pushing out tension into pushing in giving the model a huge strength

A small model to give me some idea on how bendy the plywood was without having any treatment. The idea was that giving the model a 'Waist' creates a tension which gives the model a strength allowing it to be sat on.

A maquette to help solve the problem of reducing the amount of components on my stool project which only allowed 20 in total. It also had to be produced out of half a sheet of Plywood/MDF (1220mm by 1220mm) on the CnC cutter and wasn't allowed any other processes done to it.
